Meet our Team Members
The Leek Team Ministry in the Church of England Diocese of Lichfield was established in 1979, the Parishes and Benefices of St Edward the Confessor Leek, All Saints Compton and St Luke’s & St Paul’s Leek uniting together at that time and becoming district churches in the new team ministry. The Parish of St Matthew’s Meerbrook joined as an additional district church in 1983 to create the Team Parish of Leek & Meerbrook. On 1st November 2022 the Team Parish became a Team Benefice with each district becoming an individual parish in it’s own right, and on 1st February 2025 the parishes of St Edward the Confessor Cheddleton and St Chad’s Longsdon joined the team to create the Leek Area Team Benefice.
There is great diversity within the Team, with space for almost all kind of Christian spirituality. We value the distinctive contribution made by each congregation. Each district is responsible for it’s own mission and ministry but, where appropriate, we pool resources and work together.
The team of ministers consists of the Team Rector and two Team Vicars with each parish having it’s own PCC. A Joint Council of representatives from each parish oversees events in which the team as whole come together. The team is further augmented by the Warden of St Chad’s Retreat House which is run on behalf of the benefice under the supervision of the PCC of St Edward the Confessor, Leek.
